David life was being hunted down by an army, and he was being verbally accused and attacked. David was in a place where he had to continually trust the LORD. The situations were not enjoyable in themselves, but David was growing in faith and character.
In Psalms 35:13 David says, “… I humbled myself with fasting.” Fasting is a key to humbling ourselves before the LORD to find grace. David says in Psalms 63:5-6, “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.” David loved God. It was God that satisfied him; he was always thinking about the LORD
