Leviticus 11-13 (Day 47)

If God created everything than we would expect He would know what would be best for people to eat and what would be good practices for them to remain healthy. As you read through the laws that kept someone “clean” it proves God’s authorship of the Bible when we match it up to today’s science. Only in very recent history did we begin to learn about germs; practicing God’s Law was the best way to be free from germs and infections. “Bleeding” people was still practiced up until the late 19 century; now doctors know that this is an ineffective way to treat sickness. If people would have read Leviticus 17:11 they would have known not to “bleed” people. It says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood.” People thought the world was flat up until recent history, but the prophet Isaiah already told us it was round. It says, “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers…” All of God’s laws have purpose. Our righteousness comes by faith in Jesus Christ alone and not by what we eat or how we wash our external body, but it is still wise to obey God’s principles.

Yes particularly interesting is the fact that modern science only discovered germs in the end of the 18th century, but God laws of cleansing would of helped keep the Isrelites healthy and germ free. Another point of interest is the oils they used like hyssop on the altar we now know kills every kind of germs. This woud of been like disinfecting the altars. The hyssop they used is a cleansing oil, and is called oil of oregano now and is being used by many health practitioners. All the oils mentioned in the OT are now being discovered as useful in treating all modern ailments without the side effects of drugs. God knew all along but were just now rediscovering what he told in the begininng of the Bible.
