Isaiah 28-30 / July 21

Today’s post is about taking things in our own hands. We’ve all tried to “make things happen” or “fix thing” our way and failed at some time in our life.

In Isaiah 28:15, the LORD alludes to the covenant Israel will make with Antichrist in the end days when He says, “Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we are in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, It will not come to us, For we have made lies our refuge, And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves."  In contrast, the LORD says in  verses 16, “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.” Israel will believe they will finally have peace because of the covenant they have made with the one “ruling the world,” but he will turn on them. The only sure foundation is Christ Jesus; those “built” on Him will not act out of their own haste, wisdom, or strength.

He further expresses this in Isaiah 30:15: “For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: "In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.’ But you would not.” God wanted and wants to give Israel peace, but they must learn to trust and “rest” in Him. In Isaiah 30:18, the LORD says He will “wait” for Israel to “wait for Him.” The verse says, “Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.” We must learn to trust God in our life and look to Him for everything. Whenever we take things in our own hands, we will fail miserably.

Isaiah 30:15
"In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength

The Lord gave this verse to me on one particular occasion when I was striving and trying to do something in myself and trying to figure it out in myself. After we have prayed through on something we need to learn to rest be still in quietness and confidence: )
