Judgment isn’t God’s desire, but righteousness is, and when a people become so wicked, He must bring judgment to bring forth a righteous remnant again. God says in Isaiah 1:25-26, “I will turn My hand against you, And thoroughly purge away your dross, And take away all your alloy. I will restore your judges as at the first, And your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city." Alloy (which is: wicked people, and wicked ways of thinking and living) had become intermingled with society; it would be a painful process to “purge away the dross.”

By speaking about events toward the end of the age it revealed what God would do to a measure in their day. The great tribulation at the end of the age and the return of Jesus and His kingdom is referred to as “the day of the LORD.” Isaiah 2:12 says tells us that God will bring low everything done in pride by men in the day of the LORD. In the day of the LORD, He will have his way everywhere in the earth. By telling them about the day of the LORD, He was letting them know he was about to have His way in Judah and bring low everything done by the pride of men. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Read Isaiah 3:1-5 again.
