Genesis 41-42 (Day 26)

_ Genesis 41:8 says  “Now it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. And Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them for Pharaoh."

The end of the age is drawing closer and things will shake and topple. Man will have no answers for the problems around them, but God is preparing people to step into places of influence. They will come with God's wisdom and power revealing God's glory. As we see in chapter 41, God is preparing people in the “pit” of adversity for a day that He shall receive glory through them. One day Joseph was in prison, the next he was ruling over a nation… that is the power of God’s Word planted in a believers heart.

Something to think about: How did the belief that Jacob (Israel) had that Joseph had been killed affect his decision in this chapter 42?

Any mystery novel doesn't get any better than the story of Joseph going from the castle to the pit and back to the castle again to end up being the second in command of all Egypt.

I was trying to find out how long Joseph was in prison, and he evidently could of been there up to 13 years from what I read.
But Joseph had a winners attitude the whole time, he didn't grumbled or complained while in prison, and because of it God blessed him there also. If he started to feel sorry for himself once, (after all he was wrongly blamed) then everything would have probably had a whole different ending.

If anyone had a reason to feel sorry for themselves Joseph did. He was betrayed by his own brothers, almost killed by them, but instead sold into slavery by them. He could not see he own father again or his little brother Benjamin his family life was quickly distroyed. Then he became a slave in Egypt, and was wrongly accused of somethiing and ended up in prison. But God continued to bless him. Whether he was in Potaphars house or in prison the blessing on Joseph was evident and spread to those all arround him.

It must of been very confusing to Joseph after all didn't he have the two dreams that told a different story for his life. In Gen 42:9 after seeing his brothers it says "Joesph remebered the dreams he had dreamed of them." He must have thought about the dreams periodically, and maybe they helped keep him positive through the years away from his family. A hope that God would turn it all arround.

The names he choose for his Childrem says a lot about his attitude also.
Manaseh meaning: To Forget, Joseph didn't dwell on the bad events of his past.
Ephraim meaning: God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. God will bless you even in the pit if you keep your attitude positive.

Rom 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

I love the Bible example Joseph makes for us that even when we are doing the right things and still go through trials that God has not forgotten us even though it may "appears that way."

Question answer: Is it that Jacob wouldn't allow Benjamin to go to Egypt at first because he thought evil could befall him as it did Joseph?
