The LORD knew the people in a time to come would turn to others gods and He would hide His face from them. This song was designed to “be a witness” against Israel; it was designed to prick their conscience after the curse of their sin came upon them. The LORD said in Deuteronomy 31:19 "Now therefore, write down this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for Me against the children of Israel.” What a powerful way to awaken a generation; by a prophetic song written generations in the past about the situation they would be in.
Psalm 91 is in today’s reading because Moses is the author of it. I love how he says in verse 2, “I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."” First we hear His Word; then hearing brings faith. Faith cause us to do what 2 Corinthians 4:13 says, “…since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I BELIEVED AND THEREFORE I SPOKE," we also believe and therefore speak.”
