2 Chronicles 27:2 tells us King Jotham “did what was right in the sight of the LORD… But still the people acted corruptly.” We need to pray for those in governmental power “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life (1 Tim. 2:2),” but we need to realize that godly government won’t necessarily produce a godly nation. A godly government can help so the church can do its job, but it’s the church that must do the job of changing society. The church is the salt and light of the world.
Many of these prophecies of Isaiah are about the end times, but had significance for what the LORD would be doing in their time also. The Scriptures must be looked at carefully and examined to determine what time frame the LORD is speaking about. For instance, Isaiah 9:6 speaks of the birth of Messiah then goes right into talking about the time of His return.
